There are useful food based dietary supplements that can be beneficial in assisting and supporting the body in maintaining a healthy Alkaline/ Acid balance. When we look to the foods which are most supportive, we are choosing those foods which are high in leaving an Alkaline forming residue in the body, which are raw foods, primarily greens.
As we are aware a healthy ph or healthy alkaline / acid balance is eating a ratio of 80% alkalizing foods and 20% acid residue forming foods. However most people barely eat one serving of fresh greens a day.
Greens are rich in antioxidants, which are so vital in eliminating the oxygen free radicals that build up in us over time due to daily exposure to things like pollution, sun, bad foods, electrical radiation, and our body’s natural processes of oxidation – which further undermines our cells, hastens aging, and makes us more vulnerable to stress and the challenges to good health.
There are the land based greens such as salad greens, green leafy vegetables, spinach, kale, broccoli and grasses such as wheat grass. There are also the sea harvested vegetables such as spirulina, kelp and the green, blue and red varieties of seaweeds.
Many rich minerals that have been washed into the oceans have been reclaimed by sea vegetation. Sea vegetables provide a broad spectrum of trace minerals and phytonutrients that are more frequently deficient from land-based diets. Green, blue and red Sea vegetables which are sustainably harvested from pristine ocean waters around the globe contain the highest known nutrition available and are alkalising to the body.
